UNO-R, Darasamutr School seal institutional partnership

The University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos, Inc. (UNO-R) and Darasamutr School, Thailand, formally strengthened their international academic partnership through the signing of an Institutional Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the President’s Hall of UNO-R on Wednesday morning.

The agreement was signed by Rev. Fr. Joel A. Alve, OAR, President of UNO-R, and Rev. Fr. Luechai Chanpoh, Deputy Licensee of Darasamutr School.

The MOU provides a framework for collaboration in the joint implementation of education and learning activities; exchange of lectures, academic staff, and students; joint research activities and scientific publications; community service; seminars, workshops, conferences, and other academic activities; curriculum development and human resource capacity building; and other mutually agreed forms of cooperation.

The partnership was further strengthened through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP). Beginning January 2027, qualified UNO-R College of Education students will be deployed to Darasamutr School in Thailand for approximately four months of international teaching internship.

The signing was witnessed by Rev. Fr. Anusorn Phongsiriphat, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Darasamutr School; Rev. Fr. Leo G. Alaras, OAR, Vice President for Academics and Research; Dr. Ma. Theresa Chavez, Dean of the College of Education; Dr. Yasmin Pascual-Dormido, Director for Internationalization; and members of the College of Education faculty.

The ceremony was organized and facilitated by the Office of Internationalization of UNO-R as part of the University’s continuing efforts to expand global learning, academic mobility, professional development, and meaningful international partnerships.

From the classroom in Bacolod to the classrooms of Thailand, UNO-R students are taking another step toward becoming globally competent educators.
