REFERENCE AND INFORMATION SERVICE

Information Literacy Program

Information Literacy classes are given to freshmen and research class to guide them on how to conduct research, look for related literature, how to evaluate information sources and how to cite resources properly.

Referral for Research

Library customers are referred to other librarians with a letter of recommendation from the Director of Libraries after thorough checking has been done on the unavailability of the needed library resources.

Reserve Book

Reserve books shelves are set up to ensure equal distribution of assigned materials among all students in class.

BIBLIOGRAPHIC SERVICES

Acquisitions List

Library customers are made aware of recent book acquisitions through the Library Tipster provided by Reader's Service Librarian.

New Books

Newly acquired books are always put on display for a week before they are circulated for home use.

Inter-library Loan

The library procures books and other materials not available in this library from another after exhausting for library holdings for needed materials. However, materials borrowed on InterLibrary loan arrangements are strictly for building use only.

OTHER SERVICES

Instructional Media Center (IMC)

The IMC is a service unit in support to teaching and learning. Its resources, facilities and services are primarily intended to serve the instructional needs of the students and teachers of UNO-R.

Infotainment

Allows library customers to view featured films and browse exhibit of books, periodicals, and other information sources on significant topics with national and international impact.

KNEXHub

A collaborative space with one open and three closed discussion rooms equipped with LED TV, writing board, comfortable chairs and tables. KNEXHub is open to all bona fide students, faculty, and staff of UNO-R.

CD-ROM

Allow access on the digital record of books, periodicals and multimedia.

Use of electronic databases

Provides online access to ProQuest, EBSCOhost, IG Publishing, GALE, Philippine E-Journal, and Emerald for academic research and study. Ask the librarian for the username and password.

Document Delivery of Digital Contents

Library users can request fir scanning or photocopying of full-text printed journal articles or selected pages from printed books.

VENUE BOOKING

The IMC venue includes:

  • Father Cuenca Hall
  • Little Theater
  • Audio-Visual Room – Engineering
  • High School Academic Cultural Center
  • Senior High School Media Room
  • Integrated School (IS) N-Grade 10 Activity Center

 

Procedure for Venue Booking:

  1. Present your employee ID
  2. Inquire about the availability of the venue on the scheduled date.
  3. Fill out the venue booking form and specify the needed equipment.

AUDIO-VISUAL EQUIPMENT & ACCESSORIES BOOKING

Audio-visual equipment such as LCD projector, laptop, and accessories may be borrowed from IMC for institutions, co-curricular and non-curricular activities, and other purposes. 

For On-Campus Use booking of equipment:

  • Present your employee ID.
  • Inquire about the availability of the equipment.
  • Fill out the equipment booking form.
  • Once the equipment is released by the IMC staff, the borrower will leave their ID at the IMC.

 

For Off-Campus Use booking of equipment:

  • Present your employee ID.
  • Inquire about the availability of the equipment.
  • Submit a letter of Approval to the Property Administrator’s Office (PAO) and get a gate pass from PAO.
  • Fill out the equipment booking form.
  • Once the equipment is released by the IMC staff, the borrower will leave their ID at the IMC.

 

Returning of borrowed equipment:

  • Return the borrowed equipment to the IMC.
  • IMC Staff will check the equipment for any damages.
  • Receive your borrowed ID from the IMC staff.  

 

AUDIO-VISUAL SERVICES BOOKING PROCEDURE

Audio-visual services include Video Production and reproduction, audio-video editing, live streaming, video documentation, and audio recording / dubbing. 

To avail such services, proceed to the IMC office and follow the procedure:

  • Present your employee ID.
  • Inquire about the availability of the service.
  • Fill out the form and specify the date and service to avail.

BOOK BUYING SERVICES

Aware of the faculty’s need to acquire copies of reference and textbooks, the library may facilitate buying the books for them.

To recommend book titles for acquisition:

  • Approach the assigned librarian for your department and inquire about the availability of the book.
  • Fill up the book recommendation form.
  • Give the book recommendation form to the librarian.

KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE HUB (KNEXHub)

KNEXHub is a learning commons that supports and facilitates the teaching and learning environment of UNO-R. It is creatively designed discussion room equipped with an LED TV, a writing board, comfortable chairs and tables

The use of discussion rooms is through booking or reservation by a group of four to seven members:

  • Present your employee ID.
  • Fill up the form and set a schedule for the date and time of use.
  • On the day of the reservation, present the duplicate copy of the form upon using the assigned room.
  • Leave the ID at the charging counter.

All books are allowed to be renewed twice. All books are subject for recall.

RETURNING OF BOOKS

Books charged out should be returned to the loan desk where the books were borrowed. Users with unsettled accounts shall not be allowed to borrow library materials.

OVERDUE NOTICES

As a courtesy to the borrower and to render better service to other readers, the library sends an overdue notice at the end of the semester when the book is due. Failure to receive such notice does not excuse the borrower nor exempt him from responsibility.

LIBRARY PERIOD / CLASS VISIT

Library visits as a class must be arranged with the librarian two or three days before the scheduled visit. A whole class visit should be accompanied by the teacher in charge during the library period.

 

Upper-level classes with a group of ten to fifteen students may be sent to the library without the presence of the teacher.

 

Procedure on reservation for class visit:

  1. Inform the librarian of the schedule of visit and the materials needed during the class visit. 
  2. Fill out the booking form for the schedule of library visits. 

SAFETY AND SECUTIY MEASURES

To ensure the safety and security of materials on open stacks, users are required to leave their books, portfolios, bags, attache cases, envelopes, folders, and binders at the deposit counters. Valuables such as jewelry, calculators, cell phones, thin notebooks or paper may be brought inside. The library is equipped with CCTV.

The library has also installed a security gate to ensure that all library materials are properly charged out when leaving the library building. This security gate alarms (beeps) when library materials are not properly charged out or removed from the library.

If the gate ALARMS, please be calm and do the following:

  • Kindly stop leaving the library.
  • Please show the contents of your bags or belongings to the checker for inspection.
  • Proceed to the second-floor circulation desk or charging counter for assistance.
  • Return to the exit door.
