The 1st Assembly of Recoletos Guidance Counselors (ARGC) organized by the Student Development and Placement Center was held last April 20 -22, 2016 at the Fr. Cuenca Hall. It was attended by 20 Guidance counselors from Recollect schools in the country. The Assembly opened with a Concelebrated Mass by Rev. Fr. Ronel Gealon, OAR with Rev. Frs. Eduardo Celiz, OAR, Enrico Peter Silab, OAR & Emilio Jaruda, OAR. Introduction of participants followed after the Mass and Director of UNOR SDPC, Mr. Lino Sumbillo Jr. officially welcomed the participants. Fr,. President gave an inspirational message which emphasized on the objectives of the assembly which is to craft a uniform SDPC program in all Recollect schools and to foster camaraderie among fellow guidance counselors. Fr. Silab provided the participants with “what a Recoletos guidance counselor should be” as keynote speaker. According to him, a Recoletos guidance counselor must use integral formation approach in counseling and must always include prayers in its practice. He also distributed the prayer and image of Our Lady of Good Counsel, the patron of guidance counselors. Mr. Jun Hablo presented his research “Counselor’s Proficiency” The day ended with a resolution from the group that all Recollect schools will adopt the American School Counselors Association (ASCA) guidance format. The second day opened with a Taize prayer. Mr. Sumbillo provided another session input. He talked about the professional ethics of a guidance counselor. After lunch, the group went into the break- away sessions for tertiary, secondary and elementary to craft the unified program. The day closed at around 4 pm. A presentation of guidance counselors’ talents followed where each school gave a number. The last day started with a Lectio Divina prayer at the adoration chapel before breakfast. After breakfast, the closing program started. Closing remark was given by Fr. Silab. He reminded the participants of their roles as a Recoletos guidance counselor. Afterwards, the guidance counselors were treated to the Mambukal Mountain Resort and the Ruins. The participants were Ana Lourdes Aseron, Ma. Hezel Eumague (SPAR), Algin Villanueva (CSNTR), Rizzel Nina Sysia, Karleen Veloria, Jenifer Monton, Kristina Rose Carlos (SSCR Cavite) and Eden Galve, Gladys Lacsi, Wilma Maravilla, Mark Jasson Garcelan, Chris Feli Joy Tajonera, Diwani Duropan, Riza Deocades, Lino Sumbillo Jr. (UNOR).
