“Ang NARS” Party-list Representative Leah S. Paquiz had a talk on nursing advocacy ,January 19, 2016 at the University President’s Hall at 9 am. The Nursing Summit was joined by four schools offering Nursing courses in the province of Negros Occidental namely: Riverside College, Colegio San Agustin- Bacolod, University of St. La Salle- Bacolod and the host school UNO-Recoletos. Representative Paquiz shared her advocacies and achievements that developed the nursing profession in the country. Ang NARS Party-list posted five co-sponsored bills passed into law and 26 bills and resolutions passed during the 16th Congress. The party-list advocates to stop Force Volunteerism and Force Trainings to Filipino Nurses. Rep. Paquiz was formerly the President of the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) and was recognized as “Ang Nars ng Bagong Siglo” or Nurse of the New Century by the PNA-Eastern Region of Saudi Arabia in May 2011 and is an awardee of the 30th Anastacia Giron Tupas Award, the highest award for a nursing leader given by the PNA.
