The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (UNO-R) in Bacolod City, Philippines, and Universitas Galuh (UNIGAL) in West Java, Indonesia, have officially launched a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiative themed “English for International Classrooms.” This joint program aims to enhance global communication skills, pedagogical competencies, and cross-cultural exchange between students and educators from both higher education institutions.
Through the COIL framework, faculty members and students from both universities engage in co-designed, technology-enabled modules integrated directly into their academic coursework. The virtual exchange program focuses on building practical confidence and proficiency in English as a medium of instruction and global communication through interactive project-based learning, cross-cultural discussions, and collaborative teaching practices without requiring physical travel.
The partnership aligns with the commitment of both institutions to foster intercultural intelligence, expand internationalization at home, and provide students with real-world platforms to practice English in global academic contexts.
