The Fr. Mauricio Ferrero Hall of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos was blessed and inaugurated last December 5, 2007. The rites started with an opening prayer by Rev. Fr. Raul Buhay, OAR , UNO-R Vice President –Academics. Welcome remarks was given by Rev. Fr. Emeterio Buñao, OAR, UNO-R Director of Scholarships and Mr. Modesto Sa-onoy, Negros Occidental historian, gave a background on Padre Mauricio Ferrero, OAR.
Turnover and acceptance of the Key to the building was done by Rev. Fr. Sixto Bitangjol, OAR, UNO-R Acting President to Dr. John Clifford Salugsugan, UNO-R College of Business and Accountancy Dean. Fr. Bitangjol then delivered the Presidential message while Dr. Salugsugan delivered the speech of acceptance.
Fr. Nitodel Soriano, director of the Diocesan Lay Formation Center officiated the blessing and was assisted by other priests of the OAR Bacolod community.
Meanwhile, Rev. Fr. Antonio Limchaypo, OAR, UNO-R Vice President for External Affairs gave the Closing Remarks.
The Fr. Mauricio Ferrero Hall will house the laboratories of the Hotel and Restaurant Management program of the university. This is to cope with the growing need for better HRM practitioners in the field. The completion of the building was through the initiative of the administration under Rev. Fr. Demetrio Peñascoza, OAR.
