2 UNORians receive PIA IWAG Award

Rommel Depasucat  of the UNO-R Tolentine Star and  Shane Exito of the UNO-R High School Starlight will be awarded by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) with the prestigious “IWAG” award for campus journalism. Depasucat and Exito are editors-in-chief of their respective campus publications.

Dignitaries Visit UNO-R

Engr. Bruce Sharp, Ph.D. of the University of Melbourne recently accepted the invitation of the Recoletos de Bacolod Graduate School (RBGS) to be an adjunct professor in the University of Negros Occidental.

UNO-R Wins Outreach Contest

UNO-R is one of the winners in the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural and Educational Association (NOPPSCEA) Contest on Outreach Project. The outreach project that was submitted by the College of Education earned merits from the NOPSSCEA Outreach Task Force chaired by Dr. Angelina J. Guinanao. The Outreach Coordinator of the College of Education is Mrs. Ma. Elena Y. Doruelo.

Bam Aquino Visits UNO-R

Mr. Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino, former commissioner of the National Youth Commission, fellow of Asia society Foundation’s Philippines 21 Program, and TAYO (Ten Accomplished Youth Organization) Awardee visited UNO-R on the 15th of January to speak before the students in a forum at the University Auditorium.

UNO-R RGBS Consultant is Banwahanon Awardee

Consultant of the Recoletos de Bacolod Graduate School, Dr. Maria Dolores V. Ramos, is one of the ANG BANWAHANON AWARDEES for 2009. This search is sponsored by the City Government of Bacolod.  Dr. Ramos joined other awardees during the Awarding Ceremony on the 71st Charter Anniversary of Bacolod last October 19, 2009 at the New Government Center.

UNO-R Outstanding Alumni

The Occidental Negros Institute (ONI), University of Negros Occidental (UNO) and UNO-Recoletos Blue and Gold Alumni Association, Inc (BGAAI) will confer the Distinguished Alumni and  the Outstanding Alumni Awards to 9 alumni of the school on September 26,2009 at the UNO-R Gymnasium during the 63rd General Alumni Homecoming of UNO-Recoletos.

Those who will be awarded with the title of Distinguished alumni in their respective fields are: Dr. Renante Decena (Veterinary Medicine); Casiano Ibrado III (Agriculture); Atty. Augustus Cezar Rallos (Law);Atty. Jesse Suarez (Government Service); and Sr. Gerolinda Tingson,OSA (Religious Adminsitration).

Meanwhile, recipients of the Outstanding Alumni Awards are Atty. Andrea Si for Women’s Advocacy; Atty. Jocelle Batapa- Sigue (Public Service); Waldo Flores (Public Service) ; Jesus Zarandin (Economics).

All alumni of ONI,UNO and UNO-Recoletos  are invited to attend the General Alumni Homecoming  on September 26,2009 at the UNO-R Gymnasium. It will start with a 7:30 Mass at the Oratory of St. Nicholas of Tolentino to be followed by a Motorcade around the city.

“UNO-R 1st Employees’ Night was a 3-in-1 celebration”

The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos held its “1st Employees Night 2009” on Sept. 10 and presented three kinds of awards- Star of Tolentine, St. Ezekiel Moreno Service, and the Most Outstanding Employees – to 51 personnel for their dedicated, unselfish service.

Aside from beauty and brains, “our Mr. and Ms. UNO-R must attain a holistic development during the whole year of competition by going through personality makeover activities,” said Ms. Jocilyn Gallos, adviser of UNO-R Supreme Student Government Organization (UNO-RSSGO), during the contest orientation.
