The students of UNO-R High School Department continues to manifest passion for excellence in various academic contests in and out of the city. The 41st Rotary Academic Excellence Contest of the Rotary Club of Bacolod-South, participated in by close to 300 private and public high school students, was topped by Grade 10 student, Marielle Makilan, who finished 6th place in the competition held February 27 at USLS. Makilan qualified for the semi-final round of the contest for the Secondary Level with Grade 9 student, Gretel Faith Haro, before advancing to the finals. The other contestants were Angelica Louise Gomes, Joshua Steven Calvo and Reika Alexis Lizada. Meanwhile, the Chemistry Olympiad 2016 of the University of the Philippines-Visayas awarded Third Place to Grade 10 student Angelica Louise Gomes, in UPV, February 6. Gomes competed with Gretel Faith Haro and Evan Garganera in the said competition. The final round of the Metrobank MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge 2016 held February 5 at Bacolod Tay Tung High School also donned the Second Runner Up award to Grade 8 students Joshua Steven Calvo and Isaiah Miguel Villanueva.
