UNO-R To Adapt BCI Technology to Enhance Campus Well-Being

HANGZHOU, CHINA—The UNO-R delegation began its training in Hangzhou, China, with hands-on exposure to brain-computer interface (BCI) technology and its potential applications in human assessment, assistive technology, and well-being.

On the first day, Ms. Leni Rose Julag-ay, Dr. Chris Feli Joy Tajonera, RGC, and Mr. Jilean Mark Tan experienced the use of a brain ring, under the guidance of their trainer, Lao Shi Liang Jang. The device was demonstrated as a tool for examining individual patterns related to sleep consistency, relationships, emotional responses, and tendencies associated with anxiety and depression.

The delegation also visited the BCI Science Innovation and Demo Center in Hangzhou, China, where emerging technologies were showcased, including bionic hands to assist people with hand or limb impairments, sleep capsules designed to support sleep-related concerns, and racing-car simulations intended to develop focus, particularly among children.

This immersive learning experience opens opportunities for UNO-R personnel to explore how emerging technologies may contribute to education, guidance services, accessibility, and student well-being.

Through its partnership with EAS-Brain Leading Yang Technology, UNO-R continues to pursue international learning opportunities that connect global innovation with meaningful applications for the university community.
