UNO-R, represented by BSHM Culinary team, won 1st runner-up in the Chinese Cuisine Cook-Off organized by Robinson’s Land Corporation, February 07 to usher in the Year of the Fire Monkey. The Culinary team presented the “Orange Steamed Fish with sides of stir fried vegetables and Oyster Tofu” dish. The UNO-R team is composed of BSHM freshmen Renz Christian Montebon; Robrick Bredson Olaes; Glory Mae Pecaoco and Dio Anne Pangue and coach Mae Selene Resultay. The team relied on three cooking methods in Chinese cuisine: Stir frying ; deep frying; and steaming. The judges commended their innovative use of aluminum foil in steaming which combined time and temperature control techniques which produced a perfectly steamed fish.
