A total of 339 parents attended the Orientation and Meeting for the Senior High School Program of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos November 14 morning. Participants were given orientation on the K-12 and the Senior High School Program at the UNO-R Gymnasium. According to Dr. Reymund Sabay, Focal Person of UNO-R SHS Program, there are different areas to discuss related to the guidelines of SHS in the institution in the said activity. “Our orientation will focus on what UNO-R can offer and guarantee to the students as well as to their parents”, Dr. Sabay added. Participants were parents of students from different public and private high schools in the province who have made reservations for Grade 11 at UNO-R. “The university wants to give credit to the parents of the students who will enroll their children in the university.”, Rev. Fr. Louie F. Gabinete, OAR, Vice-President for Student Welfare said. “UNO-R has proven for more than 50 years that we are the Cradle of Excellence by producing top notchers and employed professionals.” Fr. Gabinete explained. On the other hand, Ms. Cynthia G. Demavivas, CESO V, Division of Bacolod Superintendent, shared some insights on the K-12 program. “Discipline is one major thing that I have learned in this university and helped me to become who I am right now”, Ms. Demavivas said when interviewed about what she could say about her Alma Mater today. Moreover, Ms. Ellen dela Cruz, DepEd Focal Person for Senior High School mentioned that parents should avail the program for them to ensure the future of their children. “K-12 guarantees employability, college education and entrepreneurship”, Ms. dela Cruz added. This meeting and orientation is part of the preparations for the implementation of the Senior High School program of the university specifically to cater the needs of the student who will enroll in Senior High.
