One hundred thirty-eight (138) UNO-Rians were awarded with the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). These students were chosen by the Offices of the Registrar and the Scholarships. In a simple MOA signing program held at the President’s Hall, March 28, 2019, Fray Don H. Besana, OAR, University President reminded the beneficiaries to be always thankful to God and to the government for giving them these blessings. The Fr. President signed the MOA of the student-beneficiaries with CHED. TES, as provided in section 7 of R.A. 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, is given to students who is part of Households included in the “Listahanan 2.0 and those students who submitted proof of income of their parents and had been reviewed and approved to be qualified by the Unifast Board. The subsidy will cover Tuition and other school fees; allowance for books, supplies transportation, and miscellaneous personal expenses; allowance for room and board costs; and cost for review for programs requiring Professional License or certification. This law was passed under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte. The program formally closed with the message of Fray Ronel P. Gealon, OAR, UNO-R VP-Administration and Director of Scholarships. He told them to be thankful to God and to use #SalamatSaDios. Representatives from each college also shared their sentiments and gratefulness to God, CHED and the university.
