Twelve Recoletos Educational Assistance for Deserving Students (READS) scholars of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos competed for Mr. and Ms. Neophytes ’10 on December 4, 2010 at the UNO – R Auditorium.

Ms. Janna Mary Lagare, a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education and TOSP –Region VI awardee,  made it to the top 30 Students of the Philippines. Chosen from among the many student leaders from all corners of the country, Janna came out as one of the thirty top students in the country.

The five-month partnership between UNO-R and Dr. Bruce Burnell Sharp, volunteer consultant of the Negros Island for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (NISARD) concluded with a Closing Program on July 15, 2010 at the President’s Hall.  The Closing Program was UNO-R’s way of saying “Thank You” to Dr. Sharp for the experience he has shared with the Civil Engineering graduating students of UNO-R.

Bookstore Staff Succumbs to Organ Failure

Bookstore staff, Mrs. Leilani Espino Alejandro, succumbed to organ failure early morning of June 20, 2010.  Fifty-one (51) year- old “Lani”, as fondly called by her colleagues, was a former Accounting and HRMDO staff.  She is survived by her spouse Ramonito and two sons, Ryan, a Medical Technologist, and Rock, a 4th year Engineering student of this University.
