Josh Aaron Rongo, a third year Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering student, qualified for the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) Scholarship 2008. According to a press release from the Philippine Information Agency dated January 19, 2009, Josh Aaron is one of the four Negrenses who qualified in the said scholarship. |

Rongo’s scholarship covers tuition and other school fees grant of not to exceed P6,000 per semester or term, allowance for prescribed textbooks and essential school supplies at P5,000 per academic year and free transportation for one economy-class round trip fare between his resident and the place of study. He will also receive a monthly allowance, group and accident insurance, and other privileges as required in the curriculum. The scholarship program is a part of the government’s effort to encourage students to enroll in science courses to strengthen the country’s science and technology program. |
